Open Die Forgings — Manufacturer & Supplier

Shafts, blocks, hollows and stepped shafts to 25 tonnes, upset and drawn on the press to a recorded reduction ratio.

An open die forging is bought for its grain flow. Billet or ingot is heated into the forging range and worked between flat and swage dies until the ordered reduction ratio is reached, so the fibre follows the shape of the part instead of being cut through it as it would be in a part machined from bar. We forge round and rectangular shafts, stepped shafts, blocks, slabs and hollows to 25 tonnes finished weight, heat treat to the specified property class and ultrasonically test before proof machining.

Manufactured under the Stancor Forgings brand by Stancor Forgings.
